Job Description

ABOUT FAITHWISE INVESTING

FaithWise Investing is a registered investment advisor serving affluent Christian households and mission-driven institutions. We combine disciplined investment portfolio management with charitable and estate planning — helping families align how they invest with what they believe, and turning generosity into a deliberate part of the financial plan rather than an afterthought.

We are wholly owned by The Fuller Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (dba FaithWise Advisors). That structure shapes who we are: we are built to serve clients and advance a mission, not to be sold. We are a small, senior team. That means real responsibility early, direct access to firm leadership, and visible impact on clients and on how the firm operates.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client demand has outgrown the capacity of our senior team. We are hiring an Associate Advisor to take ownership of the analysis, preparation, and follow-through behind the client relationship — and to grow into a client-facing advisor over time.

Three things to know about this seat.

You will be trained inside real client relationships from week one. You will sit in client meetings, build the plans, and own the follow-up. You will not spend two years in a back office waiting for exposure.

You will be given a real path to serving as primary advisor — without cold calling. We will hand you a curated list of contacts drawn entirely from the firm's own relationships: prior inquiries, former prospects, event and seminar attendees, and referral sources. We screen that list through Catchlight, an AI platform built for advisory firms that scores contacts on likelihood to convert and enriches each record with useful household context. There is no purchased data and no cold directory. These are people who already know our name, and you will know something real about each one before you pick up the phone.

You will not inherit a book of clients, and we want you to know that up front. FaithWise does not have an existing client book to hand to this role. Your early client work supports the President's current relationships as second chair. The households you serve as primary advisor will be high-net-worth families with $500,000 to $2 million in investable assets, a client group we are building with this hire. You will help bring them to the firm, starting with the curated list and growing through referrals. As at every level of FaithWise, client relationships belong to the firm.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Support client relationships. Build meeting agendas, net worth statements, cash flow summaries, and performance reporting. Attend client meetings as second chair, capture decisions, and drive the follow-up list to completion. Draft client-ready letters, plan summaries, and clear explanations of complicated things.

Do the planning work. Prepare retirement, distribution, tax-aware withdrawal, Roth conversions. Model charitable strategies including donor-advised funds, charitable remainder and lead trusts, gifts of appreciated securities, and qualified charitable distributions. Build first-draft financial plans for senior advisor review.

Reconnect with firm contacts. Work our curated internal list: reach out, reference the existing relationship accurately, judge readiness, and set introductory meetings. Qualify opportunities for values fit and our $500,000–$2 million client range. As you grow, you will serve households in that range as primary advisor; larger ones go to a senior advisor. Keep the CRM clean and the follow-up disciplined, including with contacts who are years away from being ready. This is roughly 15% of the role.

Support the portfolios. Implement model allocations, rebalances, and tax-loss harvesting under the direction of our Chief Investment Officer. Prepare portfolio review materials and values-screen documentation if needed. Maintain manager and fund research files.

Run onboarding and service. Alongside Client Services, own new client onboarding end to end — paperwork, transfers, data gathering. Respond to client service requests with same-day acknowledgment. Support our recordkeeping and annual review obligations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial planning, or a related field
  • 1–4 years in wealth management, financial planning, tax, or investment operations
  • CFP® certification, or active candidacy with a committed completion date within 24 months
  • Real fluency with financial planning and portfolio software, and strong Excel skills
  • Precision under deadline, and the discipline to close loops without being asked twice
  • Willingness to make outbound calls to firm contacts. We want to be direct: phone outreach is part of this job, and comfort on the phone is a genuine requirement
  • Present one day per week in our Pasadena office

PREFERRED

  • Series 65, or eligibility to register
  • Exposure to charitable planning or planned giving
  • Experience on an RIA custodian platform such as Schwab, Fidelity, or Pershing
  • Familiarity with Catchlight or similar lead-scoring and enrichment tools

CULTURAL FIT

  • Sincere alignment with our faith-based mission and a biblically informed view of stewardship, and genuine comfort discussing values-based investing with clients

WHERE THIS LEADS

Our advancement path is Associate Advisor → Service Advisor → Lead Advisor, typically over three to six years, with the Service Advisor step carrying a base in the $145,000–$170,000 range. Up to $6,000 per year for CFP® or CFA coursework and exams, plus paid study time is also provided. Progression comes through title, growing primary-advisor responsibility for client relationships, and base salary increases tied to annual review and credential milestones. Promotion to Service Advisor depends on the client relationships you have helped bring in and serve, since there is no existing book to assign.

We will be straightforward with you about pay. Because FaithWise is wholly owned by a nonprofit foundation, we do not offer equity or ownership to any employee, including firm leadership. This role also has no bonus or incentive pay. Instead, we set the base salary higher to match what you would earn in total, bonus included, at a competing firm, so your income does not depend on a good year. If building equity value is your primary goal, we would rather you know that now than discover it in year three.
