About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Painter to join their manufacturing team and play an important role in producing high-quality finished parts and assemblies.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare parts and surfaces for painting through sanding, cleaning, solvent wiping, and other required preparation methods.
- Mask parts and surfaces accurately according to drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Load and unload parts onto paint racks and fixtures.
- Mix and prepare paints, primers, coatings, and solvents according to specified ratios and manufacturer requirements.
- Verify that surfaces have been properly treated and prepared before applying coatings.
- Apply primers and paints using spray guns and other industrial painting equipment.
- Paint a variety of parts and assemblies with different sizes, shapes, contours, and configurations.
- Apply gloss, semi-gloss, flat, and other specified finishes.
- Operate curing ovens and monitor temperatures, curing cycles, and processing times.
- Visually inspect completed parts for proper coverage, finish, appearance, and overall quality.
- Identify and correct common paint defects such as runs, sags, uneven coverage, overspray, and surface imperfections.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, paint equipment, booths, filters, and related tools.
- Read and follow work orders, travelers, blueprints, engineering drawings, and written instructions.
- Follow proper safety procedures when handling paints, primers, solvents, chemicals, and other coating materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, efficiency, and production.
- Follow company policies, quality procedures, safety rules, and applicable work instructions.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial paint shop, production painting, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience preparing, mixing, and applying primers, paints, and other coatings.
- Experience using spray guns and industrial painting equipment.
- Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, priming, painting, and curing processes.
- Ability to accurately mix paints and primers according to specified ratios.
- Basic ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and job instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
- Ability to recognize and address common paint and surface defects.
- Understanding of safe work practices when handling paints, solvents, chemicals, and related materials.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary evaluation, when required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing painting experience.
- Automotive or other precision manufacturing painting experience.
- Experience with aerospace primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings.
- Familiarity with paint thickness requirements and inspection standards.
- Experience working in a regulated, quality-controlled manufacturing environment.
