Starkey Brothers, Inc. is a tax, accounting, payroll, and HR firm serving businesses from our Oceanside office. We are hiring a CTEC-registered tax preparer who wants to build a career in tax and is comfortable being the first friendly voice our clients reach.

Please note before applying: This position is on-site in our Oceanside, California office, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is not remote or hybrid. No relocation assistance is provided, and the firm does not sponsor employment visas now or in the future. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

This is a full-time, year-round position. It is not seasonal.

Responsibilities

- Answer client phone calls and assist clients with questions
- Support clients with TaxDome: portal access, uploads, and document requests
- Prepare simple individual tax returns, including Schedule C, under supervision and review
- E-file returns and track acknowledgments
- Learn the firm's full preparation workflow as responsibilities expand

Qualifications
\n
- \n
- Active CTEC registration in good standing
- Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- Comfortable on the phone and helpful with clients
- Detail-oriented, organized, and open to coaching
- Reliable and able to work on-site in Oceanside, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Prior tax preparation experience preferred, not required

As accuracy and speed develop, return complexity and compensation grow with them. The firm pays for the Enrolled Agent exam, study materials, and required continuing education. Work is performed under the supervision and review of a firm Enrolled Agent or CPA.
