Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with advanced mechanical circulatory support and ECMO experience for a float pool position requiring a CA RN license and BSN.

Details\n

    \n
  • Float pool position covering all Transitional Care Units (TCUs) and ICUs, ED, and PACU across UCSF facilities
  • \n

  • Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU setting caring for complex critical care patients including ECMO, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support populations
  • \n

  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • \n

  • 12-hour rotating Day/Night shifts (Day 7:00-19:30, Night 19:00-7:30) on a 4-week schedule cycle basis
  • \n

  • Floating required to other UCSF facilities and departments, including reassignment within a 75+ mile radius
  • \n

  • Epic charting system preferred
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active CA RN license required
  • \n

  • BSN required
  • \n

  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
  • \n

  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
  • \n

  • ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required, including bedside RN management without dedicated perfusion support
  • \n

  • CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
  • \n

  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • \n

  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • \n

  • Recent travel nursing experience required, having completed a travel assignment within the past 12 months and no more than 1 year of travel experience in the past 5 years
  • \n

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to independently manage complex critical care patients
  • \n

  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and IV therapy
  • \n

  • Experience with VA/VV/V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and ventricular assist devices strongly preferred
  • \n

  • Experience with pulmonary artery catheters, prostacyclin therapies, and management of heart failure/cardiogenic shock strongly preferred
  • \n

  • Cardiothoracic, heart, and lung transplant recovery experience strongly preferred
  • \n

  • Two references from most recent employer required for consideration
  • \n

Additional Information\n

    \n
  • Provide advanced critical care nursing to patients on ECMO and other mechanical circulatory support devices, often managing multiple devices simultaneously (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP)
  • \n

  • Candidates should demonstrate broad competency across cardiovascular critical care, transplant, and multi-organ support therapies rather than ECMO experience alone
  • \n

  • Academic Medical Center experience highly desirable
  • \n

  • All requested RTO must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • \n

  • Any prior employment with a University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed with full employment history for rehire eligibility review
  • \n

  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
  • \n

  • Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit
  • \n
