Job description:

Pay: $20.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time
Industry: Kitchen Appliances / E-commerce / Warehousing
Location: CHINO, CA

About Our Company

We are a kitchen appliance company selling across multiple e-commerce and retail platforms. Our shipping department is responsible for coordinating a high volume of inbound and outbound shipments, preparing shipping documentation, managing carrier logistics, and ensuring orders move accurately and on schedule.

We are looking for a dependable, highly organized, and tech-savvy Shipping & Logistics Supervisor / Manager to oversee our daily shipping operations, lead our team, and continuously improve departmental performance.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We need someone who understands the actual work being performed, can step in and handle any core shipping task, and can hold the team accountable for accuracy, productivity, and meeting deadlines.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable working under pressure, and capable of taking ownership of the entire department.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Shipping & Logistics Operations

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipping activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and smooth warehouse operations.

  • Prepare and verify freight Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other purchase order shipping documents.

  • Create parcel shipping labels across multiple sales channels and shipping platforms.

  • Obtain and coordinate custom freight quotes for inbound and outbound shipments.

  • Dispatch drivers and coordinate local delivery schedules.

  • Schedule inbound container deliveries and coordinate receiving appointments with the warehouse.

  • Verify shipping information, carrier selections, routing details, and documentation to prevent errors, delays, and unnecessary costs.

  • Troubleshoot shipping issues and resolve problems quickly to keep operations moving.

  • Be fully capable of performing the core responsibilities of every shipping department team member when coverage or additional support is needed.

2. Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Manage daily workloads and assign responsibilities based on shipment volume, priorities, and deadlines.

  • Monitor employee productivity, accuracy, and turnaround times.

  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for meeting them.

  • Train employees on shipping procedures, software, documentation, and quality standards.

  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Ensure consistent execution of daily tasks, even during periods of high volume or unexpected disruptions.

3. KPIs & Performance Management

  • Establish and maintain measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for individual employees and the department.

  • Track shipment processing speed, documentation accuracy, shipping errors, on-time completion, and employee productivity.

  • Review performance regularly and identify opportunities to improve results.

  • Create clear reporting procedures to measure team and departmental performance.

  • Take ownership of the department's overall operational results.

4. Process Improvement & Technology

  • Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain standardized procedures, checklists, and training documentation.

  • Identify recurring mistakes and implement solutions to prevent them from happening again.

  • Use technology, shipping software, spreadsheets, and automation tools to streamline daily operations.

  • Reduce unnecessary manual work, improve consistency, and help the department scale as business volume grows.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, warehouse operations, or a closely related field.

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

  • Familiarity with freight documentation, Bills of Lading, parcel shipping labels, freight quotes, and inbound receiving coordination.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and remain effective under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to train, direct, and hold employees accountable.

  • A proactive mindset, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently without constant direction.

What We're Looking For

We need a hands-on leader who understands that shipping operations require both speed and precision.

You should be comfortable doing the work yourself, not just delegating it. When an employee is absent, a shipment is delayed, or a problem arises, you should be able to step in, resolve the issue, and keep the department running.

You should also be able to look beyond daily tasks and identify ways to make the entire operation more efficient, measurable, and reliable.

The right person takes ownership, catches mistakes before they become costly problems, maintains high standards, and understands that every shipment matters.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time position in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping and warehouse environment.

  • Extended work hours and overtime may be required based on operational needs and shipment volume.

  • Must be comfortable managing competing deadlines, urgent requests, and unexpected operational challenges.

  • Requires a hands-on approach, strong accountability, and consistent attention to detail.

Compensation

$20.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience, leadership ability, and qualifications.
