Derekhpath is seeking a Procurement Specialist – Field & Subcontractor Operations on behalf of a confidential, venture-backed company in the Bay Area.
\n
\n
This role is a strong fit for a procurement professional who enjoys working close to construction operations, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, solving day-to-day purchasing issues, and helping field teams keep materials and services aligned with active project schedules.

The Procurement Specialist – Field & Subcontractor Operations will help manage the materials and subcontracted services required across active construction projects. As a Procurement Specialist, you'll be working closely with Procurement, Construction, Site Operations, Finance, Quality, Design, suppliers, and subcontractors to keep orders, commitments, documentation, and field requirements accurate as projects move forward.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute purchase orders for field materials, equipment, and construction-related supplies.
- Coordinate purchasing activity and delivery timing with active construction schedules and field requirements.
- Track open orders and help ensure materials are available when required by project teams.
- Resolve shortages, delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, quantity issues, and other procurement problems.
- Prepare and administer Subcontractor Work Orders and related Change Orders.
- Track subcontractor commitments, approvals, documentation, insurance requirements, and payment milestones.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and procurement information within ERP systems.
- Track pricing, lead times, order status, supplier commitments, and purchasing changes.
- Coordinate with Construction, Site Operations, Finance, Quality, Design, and Procurement teams on project requirements.
- Work with the broader procurement organization to maintain consistency across field and manufacturing purchasing.
- Support supplier and subcontractor communication throughout project execution.
- Prepare procurement reports and dashboards covering open orders, subcontractor commitments, and purchasing status.
- Identify upcoming material or subcontractor risks that could affect project schedules.
- Support site teams as project requirements and purchasing priorities change.
- Participate in field visits when needed to understand project conditions and resolve procurement issues.

What We’re Looking For
\n
- \n
- 2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related function.
- Construction, field-operations, or project-based procurement experience preferred.
- Experience supporting subcontractors, service-based procurement, or construction purchasing is strongly relevant.
- Familiarity with Subcontractor Work Orders and Change Orders.
- Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of basic accounting and cost-control principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining accurate purchasing records.
- Strong communication with suppliers, subcontractors, field teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Comfort working across both construction and manufacturing environments.
