Role Description The Plumbing Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Santa Barbara, CA. This position is responsible for designing plumbing systems for a variety of building types, including water supply, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems. Day-to-day tasks include preparing drawings and specifications, performing calculations, coordinating with mechanical and electrical disciplines, and ensuring designs comply with building codes and standards. The Plumbing Engineer will review project documentation, support construction administration with RFIs and submittals, and collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to resolve design issues. The role also involves participating in project meetings, maintaining accurate records, and supporting quality control processes for plumbing design deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Plumbing and Plumbing Design for building projects.
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of Water Supply systems and Building Services related to plumbing.
  • \n

  • Experience working within Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design environments.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with relevant plumbing codes, standards, and local regulations.
  • \n

  • Ability to use CAD/BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for plumbing system design and documentation.
  • \n

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; PE license or EIT certification is a plus.
  • \n

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate across disciplines.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
  • \n

  • Prior experience in consulting engineering or building design is preferred.
