We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator III to join a landfill operation in Lost Hills, CA. This position is ideal for an experienced operator with strong dozer and GPS/grade-control experience who is comfortable working in an outdoor, safety-focused environment.
What You’ll Do
- Safely operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, front-end loaders, scrapers, and other heavy machinery
- Utilize GPS/grade-control systems while operating equipment
- Perform daily equipment safety and maintenance inspections
- Identify and report equipment maintenance or repair needs
- Assist with routine equipment maintenance
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure equipment is properly secured
- Follow all company and workplace safety procedures
- Maintain accurate daily records and documentation
- Work independently while meeting daily operational schedules and production needs
- Assist with other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience required
- Strong dozer operating experience required
- GPS/grade-control experience highly preferred
- Experience operating front-end loaders, excavators, scrapers, and similar heavy equipment
- Previous landfill, construction, mining, agriculture, or similar heavy industrial experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of equipment and workplace safety
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to perform daily inspections and recognize equipment maintenance needs
- Ability to read, write, and maintain daily operational records
- Strong communication, decision-making, and time-management skills
- Dependable and able to work independently
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Must be comfortable working outdoors year-round, including in extreme heat and cold
- Ability to climb on and around heavy equipment
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull approximately 25–50 lbs.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs and safely maneuver around an active landfill environment
