Responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical instruments and maintain sterile technique for procedures.

  • Assist surgical team with patient positioning and intraoperative tasks.

  • Ensure accurate instrument counts and safe specimen handling.

  • Adhere to regulatory and safety standards; assist with quality improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor and manage basic patient vitals and communicate changes to the team.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked operating room before and after procedures.

  • Document procedure details and assist with post-operative care instructions.

  • Collaborate with team to meet targets and contribute to pipeline-based planning.

  • Support on-site logistics and scheduling to maximize efficiency and throughput.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance outcomes and speed.

  • Communicate clearly with patients and families about the perioperative process.

  • Demonstrate continuous learning by staying current on surgical techniques and tools.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technician with active state certification in California.

  • Experience handling sterile instruments and maintaining sterile technique.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO) with compliance mindset.

  • Ability to assist with patient positioning and intraoperative tasks.

  • Proficiency in instrument counts and safe specimen handling protocols.

  • Team collaboration with ability to support logistics and scheduling for throughput.

  • Basic patient vitals monitoring and timely communication of changes.

  • Proven track record in operating room prep, turnover, and maintaining a stocked OR.

  • Accurate documentation of procedures and guidance on post-operative instructions.

  • Continuous learning mindset with willingness to stay updated on surgical techniques.
