Step into the impactful world of special education, working closely with an elementary student in need of personalized, one-on-one support. This contract opportunity, located near Santa Cruz, CA, is perfect for Special Education Teachers who thrive on making a difference and value flexibility. Over the course of the NSY 26/27 school year, you’ll collaborate with school staff and help guide a 2nd-grade student with autism as they develop academically and personally.
Enjoy a part-time schedule, working four days per week on site, outside the classroom for three focused hours each day (Monday-Thursday). While your primary caseload centers around this student, you may have the rewarding chance to support additional students as needs arise—broadening your impact across the school community.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid CTC Certification in either Mild/Moderate with AAAS or Moderate/Severe (ESN)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, ideally those with autism spectrum disorder
- Strong instructional and communication skills
- Flexibility, patience, and a supportive attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction to a 2nd-grade student with autism outside the general classroom environment
- Collaborate with school staff and other professionals to monitor and report on student progress
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials for personalized learning
- Potentially provide support to additional students as determined by school needs
