Job Description

Precision Tube Bending, an established aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Manufacturing Estimator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, with the ability to analyze engineering drawings, evaluate manufacturing requirements, and prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for precision components and assemblies.

This position requires a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, material costs, labor requirements, tooling, and production methods. Experience with aerospace tube bending, machining, welding, and metal fabrication is highly desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Review customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs), engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for aerospace tubing, fabricated assemblies, machined components, and related manufacturing operations.
Analyze material requirements, labor hours, machine time, tooling costs, and outside processing expenses.
Determine manufacturing processes and production requirements necessary to complete customer orders.
Estimate costs associated with CNC machining, tube bending, welding, fabrication, inspection, and testing.
Obtain material and outside processing quotations from suppliers and vendors.
Evaluate production quantities, setup requirements, and manufacturing efficiencies.
Work closely with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality departments to develop accurate estimates.
Identify potential manufacturing challenges, special processes, and cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare and maintain detailed cost breakdowns, quotations, and supporting documentation.
Review historical job costs and production data to improve estimating accuracy.
Ensure quotations reflect customer specifications, quality requirements, and delivery expectations.
Manage multiple RFQs while meeting customer quotation deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Experience estimating costs in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Knowledge of manufacturing labor calculations, machine rates, material costs, and production processes.
Ability to develop accurate cost estimates from engineering drawings and customer requirements.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple departments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience estimating aerospace tube bending and tube fabrication projects.
Familiarity with CNC machining, tooling, welding, and precision metal fabrication.
Knowledge of aerospace materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and specialty alloys.
Understanding of GD&T and aerospace engineering specifications.
Familiarity with AS9100 quality requirements.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing cost analysis.
Experience with outside processing, including heat treating, plating, coating, and nondestructive testing.
Previous experience working directly with aerospace customers and suppliers.
