We are currently seeking a Litigation Assistant for full-time, in-person work at our Downtown Berkeley office.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency with large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT and Claude, along with exceptional document preparation, proofreading, and organizational skills. A primary responsibility of this position will be using AI-assisted tools and established firm templates to prepare, revise, and review litigation documents.
Prior experience in civil litigation is preferred but not required. We welcome candidates from outside the legal profession who demonstrate strong technological proficiency, exceptional attention to detail, and an enthusiasm for innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Use LLMs to prepare and revise legal documents, motions, and trial documents using established firm templates and attorney instructions.
- Review LLM-generated documents for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to firm standards.
- Organize and review case materials to identify information needed for document preparation.
- Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support staff to meet deadlines and maintain efficient workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve document production processes through technology and automation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency and prior experience using LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI tools) is required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
- Superior document preparation, formatting, and review skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions while working independently.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and other standard office applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
- Familiarity with California civil litigation procedures, court rules, and deadlines is a plus.
- Prior experience in a civil litigation law firm is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving workflows.
