Step into a rewarding contract opportunity in Grass Valley, CA, supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher (SPED) in a dedicated Special Day Class (SDC) setting. This full-time position runs from August 18, 2026, through June 8, 2027, and is ideal for educators passionate about fostering student growth within a supportive, collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential required
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in elementary settings
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and adaptability to schedule changes around IEP meetings
- Commitment to inclusive, student-led learning and proven classroom management skills
Role Overview:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to a class of 9-10 elementary students with mild to moderate needs, with a maximum class size cap of 14
- Maintain and update student IEPs, with approximately 9-10 IEPs over the course of the year
- Collaborate closely with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success
- Work Monday through Friday, 7:30am–2:30pm (occasional extended days for IEPs, primarily scheduled within standard hours)
- Support students’ school day (7:55am–2:00pm, M-TH; early release Fridays at 1:00pm), providing ongoing academic, social, and behavioral interventions
