Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and dental materials before procedures
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and complex dental procedures
  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment following safety guidelines
  • Take and process dental X-rays when permitted by local regulations
  • Prepare patients for treatment and help them feel comfortable and relaxed
  • Record medical and dental histories and update patient charts accurately
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care after procedures
  • Mix and prepare dental materials such as impressions or temporary fillings
  • Maintain infection-control and safety standards throughout the facility
  • Schedule appointments and assist with basic administrative duties when needed
  • Maintain inventory and restock dental supplies on a regular basis
  • Follow patient confidentiality requirements and office policies

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Dental Assistant certification or X-ray certification where required by state regulations
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and sterilization techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient confidentiality
  • Experience working in a community health clinic or dental office setting is a plus
