East Bay Dance Center is a well-known, 35-year-old non-profit organization that provides dance classes and afterschool programs to youth in the East Bay. We are seeking 1-2 additional team members to provide quality care and fun activities for our afterschool students. These students are aged 4-10 years old. Patience, experience with young children and good stress management skills are essential for this position. Paid training will be provided. No dance experience is required.
Our ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, friendly and LOVES KIDS! You must be available Mon-Fri from 2 PM-6 PM (except Weds. when you will work 1 PM-6 PM and Tuesday when we meet at 130 PM and work until 6.) I
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. On the job paid training will be provided. There are additional optional work opportunities during the year, helping at shows, special events and camps. We observe the Oakland school calendar holidays. We are a small team, and welcome someone who is a great team player, self-motivated, reliable and fun.
Requirements
- Must provide professional references of successful work with young children
- Must be available from 2 PM-6 PM Mon Thurs Fri and 1-6 PM Pm Weds. and Tuesday 130-6 PM
- MUST LOVE KIDS!!!
Job Responsibilities
- Open, attend brief check in meeting and set up program at 2 PM promptly (1 PM on Weds.)
- Clean and set up the area
- Walk a short distance to our local school and walk back with kids (in a group with other facilitators).
- Serve snacks and interact with children in the program
- Assist with behavioral management, basic first aid and other needs of young children
- Supervise enrichment activities for children such as arts and crafts, games, storytime, etc.
- Supervise "learning time" when children will do their homework quietly
- Work as part of a small team to create a healthy, friendly, safe and disciplined environment for young children
- Interface efficiently and politely with parents if needed
- Enforce safety procedures
