We’re looking for an enthusiastic food prep worker who can deliver outstanding results in the kitchen, prepping meals for our chef/cook. Your main responsibilities will be to stock, prepare, and measure condiments, and slice and dice food. You’ll keep your workstation and equipment clean and follow all required safety protocols. Good organizational skills, the ability to take directions well, and the ability to read recipe instructions and labels in English, as well as handle a variety of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and measuring tools are required. Some experience and an associate's degree are preferred but not required. If you are a positive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, we want to meet you! Compensation:
$18 - $20 hourly
Responsibilities:
- Observe all company-required food safety guidelines and protocols in the areas where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is utilized
- Follow instructions for recipes. Read meal charts and labels in English and use the measuring tools correctly
- Wash, sort, prep, slice, and measure ingredients for recipes, using condiments, vegetables, and proteins, and mixing sauces for use in various meals
- Assist other cooks in the kitchen as needed with preparing simple recipes such as soups, sauce reduction, and brewing coffee and tea
- Maintain a clean, organized prep area and workstation at all times, and sanitize equipment after each shift or when we close
Qualifications:
- Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment
- Flexibility to work weekend hours and holidays if necessary, as well as some extended hours
- Should be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time and also bend, pull, and lift 35-50 pounds
- Prefer someone with some kitchen prep experience and associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, but it is not required
- You should possess the basic knowledge of food preparation and perform these duties with minimal supervision from the head cook or chef
