Job DescriptionDescriptionPart-Time Special Needs Nanny in San Diego, CA 92131A lovely family in Scripps Ranch is seeking an experienced Part-Time Special Needs Nanny for their 3-year-old daughter, with occasional care for their 7-year-old. The ideal candidate will have experience with children with special needs and training in speech therapy.Care is needed 2–3 days per week, approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible weekdays and/or weekends and a minimum of 4 hours per day. The family is looking for a warm, patient, and engaging caregiver to care for the children while both parents are busy at work or out for a date night.
Start Date: October 2026Length of Position: Long-term, 6 months minimumSchedule: 2–3 days per week, approximately 20 hours per week; flexible weekdays and/or weekends, with a minimum of 4 hours per dayCompensation: $25/hour, with flexibility based on experience and qualifications
Responsibilities
- Support the 3-year-old’s developmental needs through speech, educational, and other age-appropriate activities
- Prepare meals, assist with feeding, bedtime, diapering, and hygiene care
- Drive the 3-year-old to therapy appointments
- Provide close supervision and light housekeeping related to the children
- Engage the 7-year-old in activities such as art, reading, and bike riding
- Take the children for walks, to the trampoline park, or out for meals/ice cream
- Play with both children in the family pool
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of working with children with special needs
- Education or training in speech therapy required; additional education or training in educational therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or ABA therapy is a plus
- CPR certified, or willing to become certified
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and valid auto insurance
- Reliable vehicle for transporting the child; family car may also be available
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Able to provide 2 childcare-related professional references
- Able to successfully clear a background and social media screening
Compensation: Family is paying $25 per hour and the family is looking for approximately 20 hours per week
