Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Cabazon, CA
Pay: $35.82/hour
Schedule: 3rd Shift | 12-Hour Night Shifts
Shift Options: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Rotation: 3 Days On, 2 Days Off, 2 Days On
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing team in Cabazon, CA. The ideal Maintenance Mechanic will have a strong background in high-speed manufacturing and high-speed packaging environments, with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex production equipment.
This Maintenance Mechanic role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful Maintenance Mechanic will be a hands-on problem solver with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and execute preventative maintenance (PM) activities according to scheduled maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Perform reactive maintenance on production equipment to quickly restore operations following equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural systems.
- Complete machine tear-downs, repairs, rebuilds, and reassembly of production equipment.
- Diagnose and work on PLCs, VFDs, electric motors, sensors, and related control systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement creative solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Support equipment installations, retrofits, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
- Work directly with vendors and contractors during equipment installations and maintenance projects.
- Coach and train machine operators and team members on basic maintenance practices and optimal equipment settings.
- Communicate equipment status, maintenance activities, and critical information during shift handoffs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and leadership teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in special projects related to manufacturing equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Strong experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing and high-speed packaging equipment.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with PLCs, VFDs, electric motors, controls, and automated production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Preferred Skills
- Food, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or other high-volume manufacturing experience.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
