If you answered “yes,” here’s the role at Symbotic
As an HMI/ASRS Cell Operations Specialist, you’ll own day-to-day operations and upkeep of automated adapters that interface with the Symbotic structure. You’ll keep the AS/RS flowing, maintain system readiness, and help your team meet performance targets set by leadership. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
What You Bring
- Associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
- At least 1 year with mechanical automation systems or equivalent training/education.
- Skilled in system inspections: cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, current measurements, and electrical checks.
- Ability to prioritize work to maximize uptime and throughput in an automated cell.
- Strong safety mindset and adherence to procedures and manuals; able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Comfortable multi-tasking across several functions simultaneously.
Environment & Physical Expectations
- Climb steep stairs into the structure and work near elevated railings.
- Work in areas shielded from weather but not temperature shifts; operate in 105°ree; to 32°ree; Fahrenheit.
- When the site is under construction, wear required PPE: hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, ear protection, and fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
- Lift up to 50 lbs frequently and move items up to 80 lbs.
- Stand/walk for 10–12 hours; frequent walking and reaching with hands/arms.
- Operate at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches; regularly stand, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Capable of occasional/continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.
- Strictly follow all safety requirements and protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and fall protection.
Daily Focus Areas
- Pre-production readiness checks for automated adapters.
- HMI-driven operations and monitoring of inbound/outbound flows.
- Pallet preparation for induction into the Symbotic storage and retrieval system.
- Rapid fault diagnosis, manual intervention, and return-to-service actions.
- Uptime initiatives: system preservation, robot recovery, suspect removal, bot health.
- Inspection routines and component validation; root cause and corrective actions for out-of-spec conditions.
- Professional radio use and coordination with leadership and operational leads.
