Job Title: Quality Specialist
Job Description
This role focuses on ensuring high standards of quality across receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities in a controlled warehouse environment. The Quality Specialist develops and executes inspection plans, performs first article inspections in accordance with AS9102, supports calibration programs, and conducts audits to maintain AS9100 compliance for aerospace and related mechanical or electronic products.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement comprehensive inspection plans for receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities.
- Perform receiving inspections to verify incoming materials and components meet specified quality requirements.
- Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs) and document results according to aerospace standards.
- Support in-process inspections throughout production to ensure products meet specifications at each stage.
- Carry out final inspections to confirm that completed assemblies and products comply with all quality and customer requirements.
- Execute visual inspections using appropriate tools and techniques to identify defects and nonconformances.
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other hand tools to perform precise mechanical measurements.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, including GD&T, to determine inspection criteria and tolerances.
- Participate in and support the calibration program by ensuring measurement and test equipment (M&TE) is properly calibrated and documented.
- Conduct internal audits to support and maintain AS9100 quality management system compliance.
- Perform quality checks on assemblies and components in mechanical, electronic, medical device, or manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to address nonconformances and support corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and documentation in accordance with quality procedures.
- Adhere to established quality assurance processes and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection methods.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience in quality inspection and quality control in a manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, or similar environment.
- Proficiency with receiving, in-process, and final inspection activities.
- Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Ability to create and implement inspection plans for multiple stages of production.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements and audit practices.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret GD&T.
- Proficient in using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other mechanical hand tools for precise measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed visual inspections and quality checks.
- Experience in quality assurance as a Quality Inspector, Quality Specialist, or similar role.
- Mechanical inspection experience in assembly or manufacturing environments.
- Electronic inspection experience for components or assemblies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and practices.
- Experience with AS9100 audits and compliance activities.
- Understanding of process inspection methodologies and final inspection requirements.
- Exposure to medical device or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work with both mechanical and electronic products and assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting inspection results.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Torrance, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
