Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity working as a Special Education professional supporting students in Santa Cruz, CA for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This specialized, part-time role centers on providing direct, individualized support outside of the traditional classroom setting to a 2nd grade student with autism. Your expertise will help foster meaningful academic and developmental progress in a focused, supportive environment. The schedule offers four on-site days per week, for three hours each day (Monday through Thursday), with the possibility of extending assistance to other students as needs arise.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid CTC Certification: Mild/Moderate with Autism Authorization (AAAS) or Moderate/Severe (ESN)
- Background in special education, autism support, and individualized instruction
- Experience creating a positive, inclusive learning space for students with unique needs
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing requirements
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one instruction and support to a 2nd grade student with autism, focusing on academic and social goals
- Collaborate with school professionals and support staff to implement individualized plans
- Monitor student progress, adjust strategies as needed, and document outcomes
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment for engaged learning
- Respond flexibly to the evolving needs of students assigned to your caseload
