Staff Attorney (Member Legal)
$105,000 - $120,000 annually | Remote (California-based)

At the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.), you’ll provide legal advice and counsel directly to our members while contributing to legal education, research, and outreach. As part of our Member Legal team, you’ll have the opportunity to help REALTORS® navigate legal questions and provide practical legal information and resources that support our members throughout California.

Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Remote (California-based applicants only)
What You'll Be Doing
Typical responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice and counsel in response to member written and telephone inquiries.
- Developing, drafting, and/or editing educational materials and communications for distribution to association members.
- Providing legal articles and other legal materials for website content in the legal section.
- Fulfilling legal research project assignments.
- Providing legal outreach presentations.
- Assisting REALTOR® Committees on the state level.
Work Arrangement & Travel
This position is currently remote. Applicants must reside in California.
Travel may include:
- Attendance at business meetings within California approximately three times per year.
- Minimal additional travel as business needs require.
Required Qualifications:
Education
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member of California State Bar
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment confidently and quickly.
- Ability to take responsibility and perform a variety of general business and trade association law tasks.
- Problem-solving and strong legal reasoning skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $105,000 - $120,000 annually
