At EMPRO Staffing, we provide workforce solutions that help businesses recruit, onboard, manage, and retain dependable employees. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Support Specialist to assist with accurate and timely payroll processing for our internal team and staffing employees.
Position Summary
The Payroll Support Specialist will assist with day-to-day payroll operations, including reviewing employee timecards, entering payroll information, resolving discrepancies, maintaining employee records, and supporting payroll deadlines.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to work accurately in a fast-paced staffing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with weekly payroll processing for temporary and internal employees
- Review employee timecards for accuracy and completeness
- Verify hours worked, overtime, meal periods, and other payroll information
- Enter and update employee payroll data
- Research and resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies
- Communicate with employees regarding payroll questions and issues
- Coordinate with recruiters, account managers, and clients regarding timecard approvals
- Track missing, late, or incorrect timecards
- Assist with payroll adjustments, corrections, and off-cycle payments
- Maintain accurate employee payroll and personnel records
- Assist with new-hire payroll setup and employee changes
- Support payroll reporting and reconciliation
- Help ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule
- Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information
- Assist with audits and other payroll-related administrative tasks
- Provide general administrative support to the payroll and operations team
Qualifications
- 1+ year of payroll, payroll support, accounting, HR, staffing, or administrative experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and other computer systems
- Ability to identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution
- Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines
- Previous staffing-industry experience is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience with payroll or timekeeping software
- Experience working with temporary employees
- Knowledge of overtime and timekeeping requirements
- Basic understanding of payroll calculations
- Experience with HRIS, ATS, or workforce management systems
- Intermediate Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
