Job Description
Job DescriptionExperienced Associate Veterinarian – GP / Urgent Care
Torrance, California | $160,000–$200,000 Base + Production | Full-Time
Aeries Recruiting is partnering with a family-owned veterinary hospital in Torrance that is looking to add an experienced veterinarian to a growing GP and urgent-care team.
This is a strong opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys general practice but wants more clinical variety than a wellness-heavy environment. The hospital sees a substantial mix of sick and urgent cases, walk-ins, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and daytime emergency-style medicine.
The practice is looking for someone who can step in with confidence rather than requiring new-graduate-level mentorship.
The Opportunity
- Base salary range of $160,000–$200,000, depending on experience and fit
- Production-based compensation in addition to base
- Retention bonus of up to $20,000
- Standard schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week
- A three-day structure may be considered for the right veterinarian
- One weekend day is part of the full-time schedule
- Opportunity for a dedicated surgery day
- Relocation assistance may be available
- Visa sponsorship may be considered for a qualified candidate
Clinical Environment
This is a busy hospital where veterinarians are able to practice at the top of their license rather than spending their day doing technician-level work.
The hospital maintains approximately 2.5–3 technicians per veterinarian, with additional assistants and pharmacy support. Doctors remain focused primarily on examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, prescribing, surgery, and higher-level medicine.
The caseload includes:
- General practice
- Urgent and sick-patient medicine
- Walk-ins
- Daytime emergency-style cases
- Soft-tissue surgery
- Dentistry
- Internal medicine
- Hospitalized cases
Specialty consultation, including orthopedic and cardiology support, is available when appropriate.
Who They’re Looking For
The strongest fit will be a DVM or VMD who has:
- At least 3 years of post-graduate clinical experience
- Strong general-practice fundamentals
- Confidence managing sick, urgent, and walk-in cases independently
- Meaningful surgical experience and comfort performing procedures
- Strong client communication skills
- The ability to work efficiently in a higher-volume environment
- An active California veterinary license or a realistic path to obtaining one
- Availability to work one weekend day as part of the full-time schedule
Experience combining GP with urgent care or emergency medicine is particularly attractive.
Why Consider It?
The hospital is part of a family-owned veterinary organization rather than a national corporate consolidator. The ownership group has built a substantial doctor and support team while maintaining private ownership.
The current need is being driven by patient demand outgrowing doctor capacity—not by an attempt to replace an unsupported veterinarian.
For an experienced doctor who wants strong staffing, meaningful surgery, higher-acuity medicine, a four-day schedule, and earning potential beyond traditional GP, this is worth a conversation.
This position is being represented confidentially by Aeries Recruiting on behalf of a privately owned veterinary practice. Additional details will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
