Picture your day at Chemtrade’s sulphuric acid production site in Richmond, CA. You arrive for day shift, review digital work orders with your Maintenance Supervisor, and gear up. One hour you’re aligning a motor and sheave; the next, you’re opening a tank vessel for a planned cleanout. By afternoon, a gearbox rebuild and a safety walkthrough round out a day where preventive maintenance and precise execution keep essential operations running.

Role Snapshot

Title: Industrial Reliability Mechanic
Primary Location: Richmond, CA
Schedule: Day shift, plus overtime and call-outs as needed
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Compensation: $51.03/hr starting; increases to $54.30/hr after 3 months

Hourly pay varies by role, level, and location. The posted rate reflects the starting hourly pay for new hires. Actual pay may differ based on work location and additional factors such as relevant skills, experience, and education/training. We’ll discuss location-specific details during hiring, and note that some facilities operate under Collective Bargaining Agreements. U.S. postings indicate hourly base pay only and do not include benefits, pension contributions, or other incentives like overtime and shift premiums.

What You’ll Work On

Open and clean tank vessels as part of scheduled work.
Perform certified welding, cutting, and burning.
Repair pumps, gearboxes, and motors.
Execute precision alignment on couplings and sheaves for mechanical power transmission.
Replace piping and valves.
Support general plant upkeep and maintenance.
Serve on the emergency response team.
Complete work instructions and all forms related to maintenance, safety, and preventative maintenance while following all safety operating procedures.

What You Bring

3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or chemical setting (highly preferred).
High school diploma or GED.
Computer proficiency (Microsoft applications, CMMS, email).
Ability to read/interpret safety rules, O&M instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturers’ literature, and diagrams/schematics.
Willingness to support off-shift needs, including periodic emergency call-outs on weekends and holidays.
Comfort working outdoors in all weather and at heights while wearing required PPE.
