Job Overview:

The import Operations Specialist is responsible for managing day to day operations, communications and processes related to air and ocean shipments, customs brokerage, and domestic cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and maintain operation files for import and export shipments
  • Monitor and manage daily air, ocean, and domestic shipments through carriers, terminals, warehouses, and trucking providers
  • Manage ETA/ETD updates and provide timely shipment status reports to customers
  • Coordinate customs filings, including AES, and work with customs brokers
  • Communicate with overseas offices, local partners, agents, and service providers to resolve day-to-day issues, delays, and exceptions
  • Handle quotation requests from agents and operational partners, responding promptly based on regional responsibility
  • Verify customer billing and agent/vendor invoices for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate shipment data and well-organized operational records
  • Experience with RGN trailers and oversize cargo is a strong plus

Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of proven freight forwarding experience
  • Strong knowledge of both ocean and air import/export operations
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities at once
  • Excellent communication skills
  • English required; Chinese and/or Spanish a plus

Preferred

  • Experience with GoFreight, CargoWise, QuickBooks, or similar systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
