Vivo HealthStaff is hiring a licensed barber for a part-time role at a youth detention facility in Ukiah. You'll give clipper cuts and trims to young men and women twice a month, in a safe, supervised setting. This is a good fit if you want steady, predictable extra income alongside your regular work.
Schedule: Two weekday visits a month, about 4 to 5 hours each. Visits are scheduled in advance between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Pay: $30 per hour, W-2 employee, plus mileage reimbursement.
What you'll do
- Give clipper cuts and trims to male and female clients. Scissors, razors and design work are not used.
- Clean and disinfect all tools after every cut, following Board of Barbering and Cosmetology standards.
- Keep a professional, respectful attitude, and keep all client information confidential.
- Follow facility security procedures, including having your tools checked in and out.
Requirements
- Active California barber or cosmetology license.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass a background check, including a Department of Justice Live Scan clearance required by the facility, paid for by the employer.
- Must complete PREA training, which is provided.
- Reliable transportation to Ukiah.
- Experience in institutional, group-home or youth settings is a plus.
We also need a backup barber to cover occasional visits, so please apply if you're interested in that role.
This position depends on the award of a County contract, with services expected to begin December 2026.
