Job DescriptionDirect Counsel is seeking a skilled Litigation Associate to join the Litigation Practice Group of a leading law firm. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level attorney to take on substantive responsibility in complex business litigation while working with a collaborative, accomplished team.

About the Role

As a Litigation Associate, you’ll manage cases from inception through resolution, collaborating closely with senior attorneys on strategy, discovery, motion practice, and client communications. You’ll gain hands-on experience with depositions, hearings, and client interaction, working on a diverse range of commercial and business litigation matters in both state and federal courts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other case documents.

  • Manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, hearings, and client communications.

  • Attend court hearings and depositions.

  • Provide effective case management from commencement to resolution.

  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys and clients to develop case strategies.

  • Negotiate settlements and assist with trial preparation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

  • Licensed and in good standing in California.

  • 4+ years of recent business litigation experience.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state court rules and procedures.

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset and team-oriented approach.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $180,000 – $230,000 annually (commensurate with experience).

  • Bonus Potential: Up to $106,000 based on performance.
