BASIC PURPOSE

The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for serving clients with compassion, professionalism, and respect while maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient Social Services Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Daily-

    1. Serve clients daily to meet their needs within our ability.
    2. Interview clients applying for emergency assistance to be determine eligibility. If we are not able to help with the service requested, provide referral information of forms for other non-profits.
    3. Must answer the phone as much as possible, with respect to the clients/ donor, always representing the organization and our mission well.
    4. Report any driving, safety hazards and the need for repairs to supervisor.
    5. Responsible for Reach Program.
    6. Maintain a good working relationship with public and private social service agencies.
    7. Responsible for recording volunteer hours.
    8. Ensure proper daily social services records and timely stats reports each month.

    Pantry-

    1. Must be available to assist in any way with the moving, unloading, and storage of all donated food items from the truck runs or people’s generosity.
    2. Organize, clean and maintain pantry shelves staffed and in a neat manner, always securing that safety policy is followed.

    4. Moving furniture, supplies and equipment as required.
    5. prep the food for distribution to clients. distribute the food to the clients according to our schedule set by the Commanding Officer’s.

    Other responsibilities-

    1. Supervise volunteers and third-party employees (accountability) providing a schedule and teaching them the normal routine.
    2. Helping the Officer with community outreach.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Must be a least 21 years of age.
  3. Must have ability to work with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  4. Must Hold a current Driver License.
  5. Ability to participate in appropriate training in hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal; follow designated policy and procedures for Haz-mat identification, storage and disposal; maintain standards related to environmental compliance and personal health and safety as required.
  6. Ability to speak and write the English language.
  7. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  8. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  9. Ability to perform basic data entry tasks.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Standard Salvation Army vehicle.
  2. Must be 21 years or older.
  3. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate telephone
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative positions
  6. Ability to operate a computer
  7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
