Job DescriptionMechanical DesignerLocation: San Fernando Valley, CA
Pay: $52.00–$62.00 per hour, depending on experience
This position is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks skills who can take designs from concept through detailed manufacturing documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
- Develop assemblies, layouts, components, and production-ready drawings.
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
- Update and revise existing product designs and drawings.
- Apply GD&T and manufacturing tolerances to detailed drawings.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and design modifications.
- Work directly with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve design and production issues.
- Design with manufacturability, quality, and cost in mind.
- Assist with product improvements and cost-reduction projects.
- Maintain accurate revisions and engineering documentation.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Understanding of mechanical assemblies and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with GD&T.
- Experience working with machining, sheet metal, or other manufactured components preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design assignments.
- Comfortable working closely with engineers, machinists, and production personnel.
