We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Service Technician & Installer to perform HVAC service, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and installations across our multifamily residential and light commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional HVAC experience and be capable of independently troubleshooting systems, completing repairs, replacing equipment, and performing new HVAC installations with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair HVAC systems across multifamily residential and commercial properties.
- Install and replace HVAC equipment, including split systems, package units, heat pumps, air handlers, condensers, furnaces, and related components.
- Diagnose problems involving cooling, heating, airflow, thermostats, electrical components, refrigerant systems, and equipment failures.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and routine HVAC service.
- Install and repair refrigerant lines, condensate lines, thermostats, registers, and related HVAC components.
- Perform HVAC work associated with apartment renovations, unit turnovers, equipment replacements, and property improvement projects.
- Recover, evacuate, charge, and test refrigerant systems as required.
- Read and interpret HVAC plans, equipment specifications, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer instructions.
- Independently evaluate service calls and determine the appropriate repair or replacement.
- Identify required parts, materials, and equipment and communicate needs to management.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, roofing, and other trades when necessary.
- Test completed installations and repairs to ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas and properly care for company-provided tools and equipment.
- Document completed work, materials used, and any additional repairs or maintenance needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of professional HVAC service and installation experience, preferably in multifamily residential and light commercial properties.
- Must live within approximately a 45-minute drive of our Northeast San Fernando Valley office and reliably commute to assigned properties.
- Strong experience with both HVAC service/diagnostics and equipment installation.
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair heating, cooling, airflow, electrical, thermostat, and refrigerant-related problems.
- Experience installing and replacing split systems, package units, heat pumps, condensers, air handlers, furnaces, and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical troubleshooting, airflow, and proper HVAC installation practices.
- Ability to use HVAC diagnostic and service equipment, including gauges, vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, meters, and related tools.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, plans, and manufacturer instructions.
- EPA Section 608 certification appropriate for the refrigerant work performed is required.
- Relevant HVAC licenses, NATE certification, OSHA training, and other construction or mechanical certifications are considered a plus.
- Experience working in occupied multifamily properties, apartment renovations, and unit turnovers is a plus.
- Must provide own standard HVAC hand tools; company will provide larger or specialized equipment as required.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding HVAC work, including lifting equipment, climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, and working in confined areas.
- Must be reliable, organized, able to troubleshoot problems independently, and consistently produce professional-quality work.
