Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $34–$38/hour, depending on experience
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Schedule: Full-time, onsite

ProSearch Recruiting Group is partnering with a well-established and highly respected construction organization in Santa Rosa to identify an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their accounting/payroll team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the detail and pace of payroll and wants to join a stable organization with a collaborative team environment. The Payroll Specialist will play an important role in supporting weekly union payroll, certified payroll reporting, timecard processing, and other payroll-related functions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the processing of accurate and timely weekly payroll
  • Review, audit, and transfer employee timecards and payroll data
  • Assist with union and certified payroll processing and reporting
  • Process payroll adjustments and edits and help resolve discrepancies
  • Run and review timecard and change reports prior to payroll processing
  • Assist with weekly electronic payments
  • Provide backup support for union reporting and other critical payroll functions
  • Work closely with field leadership to research and resolve timekeeping and payroll discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance
  • Assist with process improvements and identify opportunities to increase payroll efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide backup support to the payroll team during deadlines, absences, and other time-sensitive situations

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of payroll experience
  • Previous construction and/or union payroll experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with certified payroll is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, timekeeping, and payroll reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Comfortable researching discrepancies and independently working through payroll issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with construction/payroll systems is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion
