Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-focused Payroll Specialist to support accurate and compliant payroll operations for a diverse employee population. This part-time, contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who is confident working independently, communicates clearly, and brings strong hands-on experience with Paylocity. Based in Studio City, California, this role will help ensure payroll is processed on schedule while maintaining precise records and supporting cross-functional coordination.
Responsibilities:
• Manage bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll processing in Paylocity, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
• Audit time entries, earnings, benefit deductions, and tax withholdings to confirm payroll data is complete and accurate.
• Investigate payroll questions and resolve discrepancies with professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail.
• Maintain payroll documentation and generate reports needed for internal review, leadership requests, and audit support.
• Apply federal, state, and local payroll regulations to day-to-day processing activities and uphold company policies.
• Partner with Human Resources and Accounting to reconcile employee data and support payroll-related projects.
• Contribute to year-end payroll activities, including preparation and distribution of W-2s and other required filings.• At least 3 years of payroll experience in a specialist or similar position.
• Practical experience processing payroll directly within the Paylocity platform.
• Solid understanding of full-cycle payroll procedures, including multi-state payroll administration.
• Knowledge of payroll compliance requirements, wage and hour regulations, and standard reporting practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other common business software tools.
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and discretion when handling sensitive information.
• Ability to work effectively within a part-time schedule while managing priorities independently.
• Payroll certification or experience with payroll-related system integrations is a plus.
