Commercial Kitchen & Mechanical Installer
Pay: $20.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Commercial Kitchen Services, Inc. (CKS) is hiring two full-time Commercial Kitchen & Mechanical Installers to join our installation team.
CKS specializes in commercial kitchen ventilation, HVAC/R, and mechanical installations throughout Northern and Central California. We are looking for dependable, mechanically inclined individuals who can work with their hands, solve problems in the field, and take pride in quality work.
Job Responsibilities
- Install commercial Type I and Type II kitchen hood systems
- Install exhaust fans (EFs), makeup air units (MAUs), HVAC equipment, and roof curbs
- Install grease duct, makeup air duct, HVAC ductwork, spiral duct, registers, grilles, and diffusers
- Install stainless steel and FRP wall paneling
- Assemble and install commercial walk-in coolers and freezers
- Work with sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, Unistrut, all-thread, and other commercial construction materials
- Perform field measuring, layout, equipment placement, and general mechanical installation
- Read and work from plans, specifications, measurements, and field conditions
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other construction equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe jobsite
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with strong mechanical ability and good problem-solving skills. Experience in commercial construction or the mechanical trades is preferred.
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- Commercial HVAC or sheet metal
- Commercial kitchen hood systems
- Ductwork installation
- Walk-in cooler/freezer installation
- Mechanical construction
- Welding and metal fabrication
Welding experience is a major bonus, particularly carbon steel and stainless steel welding.
Candidates do not need experience in every area. We are willing to train the right person who has good mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to learn.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically active construction position. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull tools and materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and work overhead
- Safely climb and work from ladders and aerial/scissor lifts
- Work safely on commercial rooftops and at elevated heights
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Safely operate common hand and power tools
- Wear required PPE and follow jobsite safety procedures
Heavier materials and equipment are handled using team lifting or appropriate mechanical equipment.
Schedule & Travel
This is primarily a Monday-Friday, full-time position.
Some projects may require overtime, night work, early starts, or occasional weekend work. Weekend work is rare, but applicants must have some scheduling flexibility.
Our projects are located throughout the Sacramento region, Central Valley, Bay Area, and other parts of Northern and Central California.
Occasional overnight or extended travel may be required for certain projects.
Pay & Benefits
$20.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Starting pay will be based on mechanical experience, commercial construction background, HVAC/ductwork knowledge, welding ability, and overall field experience.
