At Mary Ann Ellis-Jammal, MD Pediatrics, we have provided warm, individualized, and high-quality pediatric care to families in Roseville and the surrounding communities since 1993. We pride ourselves on creating a friendly, supportive setting where every child feels safe and cared for. We address everything from well-child preventative care and routine immunizations to same-day acute illness visits.

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and energetic Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our tight-knit clinical team. (Seeking a part-time MA with a possibility of increased hours)

Job Summary:

As a Pediatric Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in providing smooth, high-quality clinical and administrative support to our pediatricians and office management. You will serve as a primary liaison between our medical providers, young patients, and their parents or guardians, ensuring every family has a positive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Patient Intake & Vitals: Escort children and families to exam rooms; accurately record height, weight, head circumference, growth percentiles, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
  • Immunizations & Medication: Administer pediatric vaccines (following AAP guidelines) and prescribed medications under provider supervision; maintain accurate documentation in California Immunization Registry (CAIR).
  • Provider Support: Prepare patients for examinations, assist pediatricians during procedures, and perform basic lab work (e.g., finger sticks, rapid strep/flu tests, urine dipsticks).
  • Room Preparation: Clean, sanitize, and restock exam rooms between patients; ensure all medical equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and ready for use.
  • Patient & Parent Education: Provide basic aftercare instructions, immunization schedules, and health education materials under provider guidance.

Administrative & Operational Duties:

  • Record Keeping: Efficiently log patient health histories, vitals, and clinical notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Order & Inventory Tracking: Monitor medical supply inventory, flag low stock, and assist in maintaining vaccine supply logs (including temperature monitoring for vaccine storage).
  • Communication: Assist with answering patient telephone inquiries, routing clinical questions to providers, and providing lab test follow-ups to parents as directed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with our Office Manager, Medical Receptionist, and fellow Medical Assistants to ensure optimal daily workflow.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) required.
  • BLS / CPR: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR Certification for healthcare providers (Required).
  • Experience: Verifiable clinical experience preferred; pediatric experience highly preferred.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficiency in administering pediatric immunizations, taking vital signs for infants through adolescents, and performing basic laboratory tests.
