We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the organization’s accounting and financial oversight functions in the Modesto, California area. This role will guide core reporting activities, strengthen financial discipline, and provide insight that supports operational and strategic decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and a practical approach to budgeting, cash management, and compliance. Responsibilities:
• Direct the full accounting cycle, including oversight of the general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and related daily financial activities.
• Produce and review periodic financial statements to ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.
• Manage month-end and year-end close activities while maintaining consistency with applicable accounting standards and tax requirements.
• Lead the annual planning process for budgets and work with senior leadership to evaluate financial performance against targets.
• Analyze spending and operating results, identify variances, and recommend actions to improve financial outcomes.
• Build and maintain forecasts for revenue, liquidity, and capital needs to support short- and long-term planning.
• Establish and monitor internal control procedures that protect company assets and support audit readiness and policy compliance.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continued growth.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, customer credit practices, collections strategy, and key banking relationships.
• Provide financial guidance on growth initiatives, investments, and profitability improvements across the business.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline. CPA license required.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including 2 or more years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting practices, and internal control frameworks.
• Experience managing general ledger activity, closing processes, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting or ERP systems.
• Background in distribution, industrial services, or a comparable industry is preferred.
• Effective leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical financial management.
