About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of our restaurant and event venue. This role is responsible for ensuring our facilities are safe, clean, fully operational, and always ready to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

A key focus of this position is maintaining the performance, reliability, and compliance of all commercial kitchen equipment and building services to minimize downtime and support seamless restaurant and event operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the restaurant, event spaces, commercial kitchens, bars, outdoor areas, and surrounding property.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for building systems, plant, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Manage the inspection, servicing, and repair of all commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, combi ovens, fryers, grills, ranges, refrigeration units, freezers, cool rooms, dishwashers, ice machines, exhaust hoods, extraction systems, and food preparation equipment.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment reliability, extend asset life, and minimize operational downtime.
  • Liaise with specialist contractors and service technicians for refrigeration, gas, electrical, HVAC, fire safety, kitchen equipment, and building maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment faults and arrange timely repairs to ensure minimal disruption to restaurant and event operations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, warranties, equipment manuals, and compliance documentation for all kitchen assets.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs, refurbishments, or capital replacements where required.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment complies with health, safety, food safety, fire safety, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance of grease traps, ventilation systems, extraction hoods, filters, gas systems, and kitchen exhaust cleaning schedules.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, cleaners, landscapers, and maintenance service providers.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify maintenance issues before they become operational problems.
  • Support event operations by ensuring venues are fully prepared before, during, and after events, including lighting, furniture, audio-visual equipment, and building services.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, source equipment and supplies, obtain quotations, and oversee maintenance-related purchasing.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety, fire safety, environmental, and building regulations.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, or similar role within hospitality, food service, hotels, or event venues.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining commercial kitchen equipment and coordinating specialist service providers.
  • Sound understanding of commercial refrigeration, cooking equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and asset management principles.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety, food safety, and building compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems is an advantage.
