Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure accurate financial records for a Long-term Contract position based in Stockton, California. This role is well suited for a detail-focused individual who can manage reconciliations, prepare accounting entries, and contribute to reliable financial reporting in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sound knowledge of general ledger activity, and a dependable approach to meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities:
• Create and post journal entries to maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
• Perform routine bank and general ledger reconciliations, investigating and correcting variances as needed.
• Review assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts to identify inconsistencies and support resolution efforts.
• Compile recurring financial reports and supporting schedules for internal accounting use.
• Follow established accounting processes while helping uphold internal control standards and documentation practices.
• Contribute to special accounting assignments and provide support on ad hoc financial projects.
• Assist with tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax and sales tax reporting where applicable.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a corporate or similar business setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel capability, including practical use of VLOOKUPs, IF formulas, and PivotTables.
• Experience supporting tax functions such as corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return preparation is valued.
• Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to balance multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Prior experience in grocery, food manufacturing, or ERP-based accounting environments is a plus.
