Job Description

Job Description

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90010

Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire

About the Firm
A well-established Los Angeles personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Case Manager to join its team on a temp-to-hire basis. This firm handles a substantial volume of workers' compensation claims, including catastrophic injury matters that frequently intersect with parallel personal injury litigation.

The Role
This position is responsible for managing a caseload of workers' compensation claims from intake through resolution, with particular emphasis on catastrophic injury cases and matters that cross over with personal injury claims. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing high-stakes, complex cases and coordinating across both WC and PI tracks for the same client.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases, including catastrophic injury matters, from filing through resolution.
  • Identify and manage cases with dual exposure — workers' compensation claims that cross over with a related personal injury case — and coordinate case strategy across both tracks.
  • Prepare and file documents with the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) via EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System).
  • Maintain constant contact with clients, insurance carriers, DWC, treating physicians, and defense counsel.
  • Coordinate medical treatment authorizations, panels, and QME/AME scheduling.
  • Review, draft, and respond to correspondence; prepare position letters and settlement documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case files in the firm's case management system.
  • Prepare files for hearings, mediations, and trial.
  • Support attorneys with case preparation, strategy, and evaluation as needed.
  • Conduct periodic review and evaluation of claims, keeping cases moving toward timely resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5+ years of experience as a workers' compensation case manager, legal assistant, or paralegal.
  • Demonstrated experience handling catastrophic injury claims.
  • Experience with cases that cross over between workers' compensation and personal injury — understanding how to coordinate strategy and avoid conflicts between the two tracks.
  • Strong working knowledge of California workers' compensation procedure (Application for Adjudication of Claim, DWC forms, EAMS filings, Labor Code requirements).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Prior experience in a plaintiff's personal injury or combined WC/PI law firm environment.

Compensation: $28.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a temp-to-hire position with potential for permanent placement based on performance and fit.
