Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU RN with a CA license, PALS/BLS certification, and at least 2 years of recent PICU experience for a high-acuity assignment at a Level 1 trauma children's hospital.

  • High-acuity Pediatric ICU (PICU) unit within a Level 1 trauma children's hospital
  • \n

  • Patient population includes injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-op cardiac surgical, and neurosurgery cases
  • \n

  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • \n

  • Variable day/night or straight night shifts, scheduled as 3x12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
  • \n

  • Weekend availability required with full scheduling flexibility; day shift requires 4 weekend shifts, night shift requires 5 weekend shifts, with one full weekend off every 4-week schedule
  • \n

  • Floating required within scope of practice, including to CVPICU and NICU units
  • \n

  • No on-call responsibilities
  • \n

  • Epic charting system used; experience preferred but not required
  • \n

  • Utilizes ventilators and multiple monitoring systems including CVP and EKG
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active CA RN license required or in-process with confirmed ETA
  • \n

  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of current, independent PICU experience within the last year, not including orientation time
  • \n

  • Experience in a PICU unit with at least 10 beds required
  • \n

  • Level I trauma experience required
  • \n

  • CVP and ICP monitoring experience required
  • \n

  • Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and external ventricular drain (EVD) care
  • \n

  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required
  • \n

  • At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred, though strong first-time travelers will be considered
  • \n

  • Deliver high-acuity critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex and life-threatening conditions
  • \n

  • Work at a nationally ranked, Magnet-recognized, Beacon Award-winning, Level 1 trauma teaching hospital
  • \n

  • Scrubs of any color permitted
  • \n

  • Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), including holiday eves, with no holiday time off approved
  • \n

  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per request, with a minimum of 3 shifts still required that week
  • \n

  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • \n

  • Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before becoming eligible to travel
  • \n

  • First-time travelers with strong PICU experience are welcome to apply
