Position Summary: The Senior Manager, Packaging Compliance and Sustainability leads proactive regulatory intelligence and compliance coordination for ongoing and emerging global packaging requirements across the e.l.f. Beauty portfolio. This role serves as a subject matter expert, monitoring and interpreting detailed regulatory requirements across the EU, UK, United States, Canada, and other jurisdictions. Areas of focus include EU PPWR, recycled content, recyclability, packaging reduction, labeling, materials restrictions, restricted substances, and packaging-related environmental claims.

The Senior Manager assesses how new and evolving regulations apply to the packaging portfolio and translates complex requirements into clear guidelines, design criteria, supplier expectations, documentation, and implementation plans. The role shapes how compliance is integrated into packaging development, sourcing, and commercialization, while evolving systems, policies, and controls to anticipate regulatory risk and stay ahead of the changing global regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities:

Regulatory Intelligence

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to the organization on global packaging regulatory requirements, compliance expectations, and emerging risks

  • Monitor, interpret, and assess evolving global packaging regulations. Covered topics include EPR, PPWR, recycled content, recyclability, packaging reduction, labeling, materials restrictions, and packaging-related claims

  • Engage with PROs, industry associations, regulatory experts, testing laboratories, suppliers, and other external partners to stay informed on regulatory developments and evolving packaging compliance expectations

Compliance Requirements

  • Translate packaging regulations into clear, actionable compliance requirements for e.l.f. Beauty packaging

  • Lead interpretation of packaging regulatory requirements, deadlines, evidence, and compliance obligations

  • Establish and maintain packaging materials compliance requirements, including restricted substances and materials safety

  • Engage with cross-functional teams seeking clarity on packaging compliance topics, including preparation of summary materials, information sessions and other proactive communication and resources

Process Integration & Implementation

  • Develop and maintain packaging compliance policies, procedures, guidance, decision tools, and training to drive consistent implementation across the organization

  • Help embed compliance requirements and checkpoints into packaging development, sourcing, and commercialization processes

  • Develop and maintain regulatory roadmaps and compliance trackers that provide visibility to emerging requirements, portfolio risks, and implementation status

  • Assess and communicate portfolio exposure to existing and new packaging regulations and associated compliance risks

  • Advise on packaging data and documentation requirements to support regulatory compliance, market access, claims substantiation, and audit readiness

Requirements:

  • 8 or more years of experience in packaging compliance, regulatory affairs, packaging engineering, sustainability, or related fields, ideally within beauty, skincare, personal care, or CPG.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of global packaging regulations and emerging requirements, including EPR, PPWR, recycled content, recyclability, packaging labeling, and materials restrictions.
