Job Description

Birdi Systems, Inc. (BSI) is seeking an experienced Revit / Low-Voltage Engineer to lead the development and coordination of design documentation for low-voltage, electronic security, and communications systems supporting critical infrastructure, transportation, aviation, and government projects.

This role is ideal for an Electrical Engineer or experienced systems designer with a strong understanding of low-voltage systems and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on Revit modeling experience. The position will oversee the development of permit, shop, coordination, and as-built drawings while working closely with engineering, project management, construction, and field teams.

The ideal candidate can move comfortably between engineering concepts, Revit modeling, and field implementation, and understands how electrical and low-voltage systems are designed, documented, integrated, and installed.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the development of Revit models, drawings, and technical documentation for low-voltage and electronic systems.
Develop and oversee permit, shop, coordination, and as-built drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
Create and maintain accurate equipment layouts, device locations, cable pathways, wiring diagrams, details, schedules, and system documentation.
Model and coordinate Division 27 and Division 28 systems, including access control, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion detection, voice/data, communications, and other low-voltage systems.
Review designs and Revit models for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, coordination, and completeness.
Coordinate designs with architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines to identify and resolve conflicts.
Work directly with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel to incorporate site conditions and installation requirements into design documentation.
Review field conditions and assist with design modifications, RFIs, change documentation, and as-built updates.
Establish and maintain Revit modeling and documentation standards, templates, families, and workflows.
Perform quality control reviews of drawings and models and ensure deliverables meet project requirements and BSI standards.
Provide technical direction and day-to-day guidance to Revit drafters, designers, and junior engineering staff.
Support project teams with technical problem-solving related to electrical, low-voltage, and systems integration requirements.
Assist with design estimates, material takeoffs, equipment schedules, and technical specifications as needed.

Qualifications:

3+ years of professional experience using Autodesk Revit for modeling and production of construction documents.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Electrical Engineer or engineer with demonstrated knowledge of low-voltage electrical and electronic systems strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience designing or documenting Electronic Security Systems (ESS), Physical Security Systems (PSS), Division 27, or other low-voltage systems.
Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, including 3D modeling and construction documentation.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, architectural plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
Understanding of low-voltage infrastructure, including equipment, cabling, pathways, power requirements, and system interfaces.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designs within Revit and identifying design conflicts.
Strong understanding of construction processes and the relationship between design documentation and field installation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
Ability to visit project sites and work with field teams as required.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable government or project badging requirements.
U.S.-based personnel required due to the nature of certain government and critical-infrastructure projects.

Preferred Experience:

Electrical engineering or professional engineering experience.
Experience with Access Control, CCTV/VMS, Intrusion Detection, Voice/Data, IDS, or other electronic security systems.
Experience with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary Revit environments.
Experience developing Revit families and maintaining BIM/Revit standards.
Familiarity with NEC requirements and applicable building, electrical, fire/life-safety, and low-voltage codes and standards.
Experience supporting aviation, transportation, government, or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.
Experience leading or mentoring junior designers, engineers, or BIM personnel.
