SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced and hands on Human Resources Manager to lead all HR operations for a growing organization of 100+ employees across two California facilities, as well as a population of multi state remote employees. This role oversees employee relations, recruiting, payroll/timekeeping oversight, safety, compliance, and culture initiatives. The HR Manager serves as a strategic partner to leadership and ensures consistent, compliant, and people focused HR practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Human Resources & Employee Relations
- Lead employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and managers on HR policies, employment decisions, and compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on California and multi-state requirements
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures in collaboration with the corporate office
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Manage the full onboarding experience for on-site and remote employees
- Coordinate new hire paperwork, orientations, system access, and training
- Lead offboarding for all employee separations, including final pay, documentation, and exit interviews
Timekeeping & Payroll
- Oversee employee timekeeping and ensure accurate, compliant timecard practices
- Review payroll reports and resolve payroll-related questions and issues
- Run and analyze daily labor cost reports to support operational and staffing decisions
Recruiting & Talent Management
- Own end-to-end recruiting for warehouse, office, leadership, and remote roles
- Partner with leaders on staffing needs, workforce planning, and hiring strategies
- Leave Administration
- Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA/FEHA accommodations, and other protected leaves.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave requests and return‑to‑work processes.
Safety & Workers’ Compensation
- Lead workplace safety efforts across two facilities
- Conduct safety meetings and trainings and support the Safety Committee
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and related documentation
Vendor & Agency Management
- Manage relationships with HR vendors and agencies, including payroll, benefits, staffing, safety, and legal partners
Culture & Leadership
- Support leaders in building engaged, accountable teams
- Champion company culture, communication, and employee engagement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience with leadership responsibility
- Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices
- Experience supporting multi-state and remote employees
- Experience working with both hourly and salaried populations
- Hands-on experience with employee relations, recruiting, payroll/timekeeping oversight, leave administration, and safety
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM‑CP/SCP certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK CONDITIONS:
- This is an on-site position requiring regular presence across two facilities
- Ability to move throughout warehouse, production, and office environments for extended periods
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and climb stairs as needed during the workday
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to 25 pounds
- Daily use of computers, phones, and other standard office equipment
- Exposure to warehouse and production environments, including noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
- Flexibility required to support business operations, meetings, or investigation
