About The Role:

Settled in the award-winning San Diego Convention Center (SDCCC), the Exhibitor Services Representative identifies customer needs, analyzes data, sells and promotes additional services to enhance their event experience while providing top tier service.

This is a part-time, event driven position.

  • Shifts range from 6am-9pm, the most common being 6am - 3pm
  • Scheduled shifts range from zero up to six shifts per week
  • Schedules are produced a month in advance
  • 10-hour shifts will be necessary depending on event activity
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week, with at least 3 of those shifts falling on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

What You Will Do:

  • Engages with exhibitors to identify their needs, analyzes performance data and offers customized solutions to enhance their event experience and ensure sales goals are exceeded.
  • Addresses, responds and tracks sales and customer inquiries/concerns and reports to Exhibitor Services Manager.
    Resolves complaints and takes initiative to identify problems and deliver recommendations and solutions.
  • Generates reports, analyzes data and compares event history to establish sales goals.
  • Prioritizes customer satisfaction and delivers exceptional service through on-site interactions, phone calls, and email, including orders and refunds.
  • Collaborates with clients, contractors and internal staff to coordinate cleaning for exhibitor booths.
  • Ensures financial transactions are processed accurately and according to all regulations including Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Walks the exhibit floor(s) to ensure delivery of customer support and customer adherence to SDCCC policies.
  • Initiates conversations and provides policy reminders for those in violation of the building’s cleaning policies.
  • Conducts audits for ancillary services.
  • Collaborates with food and beverage partner to ensure cleaning services are processed.
  • Manages and dispatches orders strategically.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least three (3) years of customer service and sales experience in hospitality, sports facility, concert venue, or convention industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent telephone skills, strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to operate general office equipment (e.g., copy machine).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Utilizes and monitors smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop-based software and applications.
  • Thorough data entry with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to perform multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities and work assignments.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of business ethics.
  • Able to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer, be mobile to, from, and within the Facility Services department, as well as maneuver throughout the Convention Center facility to meet with exhibitors, attend meetings, events and other functions and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • With the approval of the Exhibitor Services Supervisor may be asked to work flexible hours to be on-site for a scheduled event, or work overtime on occasions when required to meet business needs.
