Snapshot / Role Overview

We're seeking a Mechanical Project Manager in Bakersfield, CA to own a multi-year pipeline of major commercial mechanical construction projects spanning healthcare and hospitality sectors across Kern County.

Impact

• Deliver large-scale HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal scopes on hospital and gaming or hospitality projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Drive NPC 5 compliance work in occupied acute care facilities, managing onsite emergency water and wastewater system installations under HCAI oversight.
• Protect project margins by identifying cost risk, scope creep, and procurement gaps early on projects reaching into the tens of millions.
• Build owner and general contractor relationships that sustain a five-year project pipeline in the Central Valley.

Responsibilities

• Execute full project lifecycle including buyout, procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, forecasting, billing, and closeout.
• Manage HCAI documentation, inspection coordination, and NPC 5 compliance milestones in occupied hospital environments.
• Lead OAC meetings and maintain schedule accountability with general contractors and owners.
• Control budgets through monthly cost-to-complete updates and WIP reporting.
• Coordinate BIM and prefab workflows with field superintendents and trade partners.
• Negotiate and administer subcontracts and vendor commitments to protect delivery schedules.
• Mentor project engineers and support field supervision on technical and compliance requirements.

Requirements

Must-Haves

• Commercial mechanical construction project management with ownership of HVAC or plumbing scope on major projects.
• HCAI or OSHPD healthcare project experience.
• Proficiency managing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and billing in Procore or Bluebeam.
• Ability to coordinate inspections and manage work in occupied facilities.

Nice-to-Haves

• NPC 5 or emergency water and wastewater system project experience.
• Hospitality or gaming construction background.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300, or Primavera P6.
