Prevention Program Assistant Manager

Job DescriptionThe Mission of the New Star Family Center is to provide victims of family violence access to comprehensive services from one location. Through community collaboration, we offer programs and services designed to empower victims to become survivors and break the cycle of violence. The New Star Family Center’ Prevention Program Assistant Manager, helps plan, deliver, and evaluate prevention programming for middle school students (grades 6-8). The programming addresses bullying, mental health and wellness, healthy relationships, and other risk behaviors. This person supports the Program Manager in day-to-day operations, supervises program staff or facilitators, and builds strong relationships with students, schools, families, and community partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help implement prevention activities at SEL Lunch Clubs, ‘Girl Talk’ Club, Mediations and Camp HOPE
  • Train, coach, and support facilitators, interns, and volunteers
  • Support parent and caregiver engagement; Represent the program at school meetings and community events
  • Serve as a main point of contact for school counselors, principals, and teachers
  • Collect and enter attendance, pre/post surveys, and other outcome data
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership, schools, and funders
  • Help maintain program records and compliance with reporting requirements

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and staff in-service trainings.
  • Attend development training as required and completing other duties as assigned.
  • Hold in confidence all organization and client-related information
  • Follow all mandated reporting, confidentiality, and child safety policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential or willingness to obtain one. Must complete the 40-Hrs victim advocate training within first 3 months of employment and secure Victim Service Provider certification.

  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management
  • 1-3 years of experience working with youth, ideally middle school age, in prevention, education, or youth development
  • Ability to build trust with students, families, and school staff
  • Ability to pass a background check, fingerprinting, and TB test as required for work in schools

Bi Lingual Spanish / English a plus
