Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting a student with autism in a nurturing, school-based environment near Santa Cruz, CA. This contract role is designed for a dedicated special education professional passionate about individualized instruction and making a real impact. You’ll work closely with a 2nd grader, providing direct support outside the classroom for three hours per day, Monday through Thursday, during the NSY 26/27 school year. The position begins with a focused caseload but may expand to include additional students as needs arise.
What we’re looking for:
- Current CTC certification: Mild/Moderate with Added Autism Authorization (AAAS) or Moderate/Severe (ESN)
- Expertise and background in special education, especially with students on the autism spectrum
- Experience delivering instruction outside traditional classroom settings
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff and families
- Flexibility to adapt and provide support as caseload or student needs change
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, encouraging environment for learners
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing individualized teaching strategies tailored to the student’s goals and communication style
- Providing direct instruction in a separate setting to promote skill acquisition and confidence
- Monitoring and documenting progress, making data-driven adjustments
- Developing strong partnerships with classroom teachers, therapists, and families for consistent support
- Remaining attentive to the evolving needs of your student and the possibility of assisting others
