Job Summary:
Access Electrical & Lighting is seeking an experienced Electrical Apprentice with a minimum of 2 years of commercial electrical experience to join our team.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an apprentice who already has hands-on commercial electrical experience, understands the basics of the trade, and can confidently assist our Journeyman Electricians in the field.
Access Electrical & Lighting has been serving commercial properties throughout Southern California for over 25 years. Our work includes commercial electrical service and troubleshooting, lighting installation and repair, LED retrofits, emergency lighting, electrical panels, tenant improvements, and high-reach lighting work. This is a full-time opportunity for someone who wants steady commercial experience, exposure to a wide variety of projects, and the opportunity to continue developing their electrical skills.
Pay: $25–$35/hour, depending on experience and skill level.
Responsibilities
- Assist Journeyman Electricians with commercial electrical installations, repairs, and troubleshooting
- Install and retrofit commercial lighting and LED systems
- Assist with emergency lighting and battery backup systems
- Pull wire and install/bend conduit
- Assist with electrical panels, circuits, switches, receptacles, and other commercial electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair lighting and basic electrical issues
- Work from ladders and aerial lifts/boom trucks when required
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Follow electrical codes, company procedures, and safety requirements
- Travel to commercial job sites throughout our Southern California service area as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on commercial electrical experience — REQUIRED
- Previous commercial experience is required; this is not an entry-level apprentice position
- Working knowledge of electrical tools, materials, and basic electrical systems
- Experience pulling wire and working with conduit
- Ability to perform basic electrical and lighting troubleshooting
- Ability to take direction and work effectively alongside a Journeyman
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Dependable, professional, and able to communicate well with coworkers and customers
- Ability to safely work on ladders and in high-reach environments
Preferred, but Not Required
- Experience with commercial lighting and LED retrofits
- Experience with emergency lighting and battery backup systems
- Conduit bending experience
- OSHA certification
- Experience using boom lifts or other aerial equipment
