We are seeking a User Study Moderator to facilitate in-person research sessions with participants recruited from the general public. This role involves guiding participants through structured activities, interviews, and testing while observing their movement and exertion levels during physical activities.
\n
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with individuals and larger groups, giving clear instructions, monitoring activities, and accurately documenting observations while following established research protocols.
\n
Candidates do not need to come specifically from a research background. Experience in fitness, personal training, recreation, customer service, events, hospitality, coaching, or other highly people-facing environments may be highly relevant.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate in-person user research sessions with recruited participants.
- Guide participants through interviews, testing, exercises, and other activities according to client protocols.
- Observe participants performing physical activities and track movement, exertion levels, and other required information.
- Provide clear and consistent instructions to participants.
- Work comfortably with both individuals and larger groups.
- Collect accurate, objective, and unbiased data throughout each session.
- Follow research procedures carefully without influencing participant behavior or responses.
- Monitor participant safety during study activities.
- Maintain participant privacy and confidentiality.
- Follow all security and data-handling requirements.
- Ensure collected data meets project quality and accuracy expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong face-to-face customer service or participant-facing experience.
- Comfortable interacting with and managing groups of people.
- Experience in a gym, fitness, sports, recreation, research, events, hospitality, or customer-facing environment is preferred.
- Comfortable observing people performing exercises or other physical activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and instructions consistently.
- Professional, reliable, and comfortable working in a structured environment.
- Available to work 100% onsite in Sacramento.
