We're seeking an HR Manager in the San Jose area to lead HR and payroll for a growing mechanical contractor with office, field, and shop teams across HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, refrigeration, and electrical.
Impact
- Strengthen employee relations and culture across a multi-trade workforce.
- Keep the company compliant with California employment and labor law.
- Build consistent HR standards for field, shop, and office.
- Improve payroll accuracy for a large, complex workforce.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily HR and payroll operations.
- Execute HR strategy, policies, and organizational development with leadership.
- Manage employee relations, investigations, grievances, and corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with California wage and hour and labor regulations.
- Coordinate leaves, accommodations, and workers' compensation with Legal and Safety.
- Track HR and payroll KPIs.
- Mentor HR and payroll staff.
Must-Haves
- HR management experience with payroll oversight.
- Strong command of California employment law.
- Experience supporting a field or trades workforce.
Nice-to-Haves
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification.
- Union or prevailing wage experience.
Compensation and Logistics
